I've had a bundle of wire hanging out from under my dash for a long time from accessories I have added.
I've looked around for a decent add on fuse box, but they're all way to expensive.
One that I've been looking at was the Painless Wiring 7 circuit (3 constant, 4 switched) fuse box, but it goes for about $75. Once I got a look at it, I realized I had seen those blocks before at Autozone. I went to Autozone and picked up 2 of them for $3.50 each. I didn't need any switched circuits, so I wired all the circuits to be constant. I also didn't like where they had the master fuse. I put an in-line fuse in the main wire right by the battery, so if that wire ever shorts out the fuse will blow. I pre-wired all 8 curcuits and sealed up the back with silicone just like the Painless Wiring box. Since it was all pre-wired, I used a Posi-lock connector to make the connection to each wire. It give you a stronger connection than a crimp and if you want to change things around, it's easy to disconnect and reconnect them. I spent less than $10 on the fuse blocks and silicone. I already had the wiring. And I spent $15 on a box of posi-lock connectors (and only used of few of them on this project). It was a nice cheap project and really cleaned things up |
