Another fun trip to Vinton County. We met up with a group from Tire Town Fourwheelers and we ran the Furnace trail.
Near the begining of the trail is the Richland furnace that was used to refine iron in the mid 1800's. You can read
more about it here.
It rained heavily the day before so there was a lot of water. The highlight of the day was probably when I tried to roll my Bronco on it's side in a big mudhole. It was a long mudhole and everyone in front of me opted for the trail next to it that winded thru the trees. Half way thru I got tired of dodging trees and I looked back and saw that Howard in the Sammi was coming straight down the mudhole and it wasn't very deep. So the next chance I had I went into the mud. Big mistake! It was about 2 ft deep where I went in and it almost turned over. Howard went by me and hooked up a strap to stabilize me so I could drive out. Then we could see that I popped the bead off on the left front tire. Jim L had a co2 tank, so it was easy to get the tire remounted. It worked for the rest of the trail, but on the road it was very very unbalanced above 40mph. I used my spare swamper to get home. |
